Notice of elevator five-year testing
Affected location(s): | Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the Observatory (089)
|
Affected elevator(s): | Passenger elevator #1
|
Service period: | Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, 7 AM–3 PM
|
What is being done and why?
Ontario’s Technical Standards and Safety Authority requires all elevating devices in the province to undergo an extensive test every five years to ensure passenger safety.
This test is much more rigorous and comprehensive than the annual elevator test and typically takes up to eight hours to complete. It will take place between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm.
This test may reveal potential issues that are cannot be identified in annual tests. If repairs are required after the test, a separate out-of-order notice will be issued to update building occupants of next steps.
How will it impact building occupants?
During the service period, the elevator(s) will be out of order. Thank you for your patience as we conduct this critical work.
